Research Project: English Reading Material For Malaysian School Students
Since May 2011 I have been working with Pn Zaliha Bt Abdullah, English language lecturer at IPGKDRI in Malaysia, on a longitudinal study of school libraries in Kuala Terengganu.
We have discovered that Terengganuan primary school students typically do not read much English language material, very little English fiction, and rarely (if ever) borrow books.
On June 7 2012 we presented our paper at the Malaysian English Language Teaching Association (MELTA) in Kuching, Sarawak. Click on the links below for the full text of the paper and the PowerPoint slideshow that we used in Kuching.

Click on a picture for full-size pic and captions. OK the pix are a bit boring but the subject matter is rather riveting. Read the paper and the PowerPoint with text below!
